Verbal aikido
"If a brick falls, the best course of action is to move."
Verbal Aikido is a method of responding to verbal aggression derived from the principles and philosophy of Aikido, the legendary Japanese art of defense, formulated by practicing Japanese master Morihei Ueshiba, the creator and pioneer of Aikido, who said he had not "invented" but only "discovered." This art of defense is based on the principle that in situations of aggression from another person, the host person can become the center and controller of power - his internal and external balance, physical, mental and spiritual integrity, ability to master his vision and functioning is important. The basic attitude of interaction - “I don’t fight, I don’t seek to defeat, I’m not your enemy” reveals a special relationship with the attacking partner - an effort to accept, understand, learn from it, thus facilitating the neutralization of his attack and avoiding harm.
“Those who seek to compete and be better than each other are making a terrible mistake. Crushing, injuring or destroying is the worst thing a human being can do. The real way - to become a defender who prevents such carnage - is the art of peace using the power of love. " Morihei Ueshiba
The concept and methods of verbal Aikido derive from the same philosophy of defense art. Not only the "visible" techniques of dealing with the attacker are important here - the techniques of body language, intonation, construction of spoken words and sentence content. The decisive factors are: maintaining internal balance, setting situational goals in situations of aggression, ability to appear in different internal positions: to withdraw from the "target" position (I help you feel the despair of the attack because there is no expected target!); constantly station next to the attacker and become his shadow (because "you will not attack your shadow"); not to run and not to retreat, but to "go closer to the partner" (to want to look at the world through his eyes), etc.

All physical training begins with a warm-up, muscle-stetching exercises ... What we do during Verbal Aikido workouts - as well as "warm-up" and "stretching exercises" of our own resources - are necessary for our personal resilience, flexibility and prevention of emotional trauma. It is necessary to learn to release the desire to be right! It is important to "warm-up" your curiosity well - the excitement to understand a different worldview. To put down plans and expectations - everything around you is constantly changing. To calmly enter the middle of the "big emptiness" and be ready.
Verbal Aikido application value:
- Ability to easily deconstruct potential conflicts in the early stages, their prevention.
- It is a way to avoid escalation of conflicts, un uncontrolled increase of the heat of the situation, the ability to deal with “hot” or aggressive people.
- Ability to interrupt your faulty habitual attacks on another person by changing your reaction mechanism.
- Consolidation of one's emotional autonomy and peace, the resilience of others. It is especially relevant for those who, in constant contact with angry or dissatisfied persons, behave in an unconstructive manner and as a result experience personal tension.
We teach Verbal Aikido attitudes and techniques: seminars - skills training, continuing education - experience-building groups together, individual training, consultations.
